PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

On the last day of the term, it is our tradition to send students off with a Blessing Ceremony. This gathering allows staff to share encouraging words specific to each student and to pray a blessing over their lives going forward. Staff share the growth we have witnessed, and thank God for the transformational power of Christ at work this year.

It is a day of mixed emotions—mourning that the year has come to an end, while also celebrating how students have dedicated the past year to following Jesus.

This year, there was much to be thankful for. In a culture that lacks commitment, we saw students dedicate themselves to serving, studying, and caring for one another. In a world marked by anxiety, we witnessed God help students overcome the fears that hindered their growth. In a generation full of apathy, we celebrated students encountering God and becoming passionate about their faith.

Moments like these prompt us all to ask ourselves, “Now what? What does the next step in our journey of faith look like? How do we use the knowledge, experience, and community that was gained to go and bless others?”

In Genesis 12, God blesses Abraham to enable him to bless the world around him.
Similarly, how do we share the blessings God has given us with our communities?

          “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;
           I will make your name great, and
you will be a blessing.
           I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;
           and
all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

This past year God really did bless us and our students. We ask that you join us in
praying that this blessing will not be wasted. Pray that as our students move
on from graduation, they will pass on the blessings they received this past year
and be a blessing to those around them.

STUDENT REFLECTIONS on the past year

FINANCES

Thank you to everyone who supported us financially this year. Thanks to your generosity, we are on track to meet our budget for this school year and were able to invest in the teaching, discipleship, and mentorship of both our students and alumni. We are exceedingly grateful for God’s faithful provision.

For those who are unfamiliar with our ministry model, we keep our tuition costs low so that our program is accessible to all who desire to invest in an intensive year of discipleship. Therefore, we rely on the contributions of individual donors and churches to cover the majority of our expenses. If you have been impacted by the ministry of Mount Carmel, we ask that you would prayerfully consider partnering with us by signing up to become a monthly donor or by sending a one-time gift. Donations go towards paying our staff and covering our operating expenses, allowing us to offset the cost of our program for another group of students this fall.

Details on giving options can be found online at www.mountcarmel.net/donate or by scanning the code to the right. If you have any questions about our finances, please contact our office. Thank you for your support.

CAMP TEAM

Once again we have the opportunity to send out a team of students to a number of summer camps across Alberta to serve, teach, and lead! Camp team is one of the ways our graduating students can tangibly put into practice what they learned over the past year while providing much needed support to campers and staff. Please pray for wisdom, energy, and the ability to love campers well as they serve.

While Mount Carmel pays each of these individuals a small stipend for their 8 weeks of service, they are raising their own support. You are welcome to support the team by sending a tax-deductible donation marked “Camp Team”. Our team will be led by Hanna Gurnett and Bryson Albers and consists of Olivia Hofer, Jacob Somers, Rory Teigen (back row, L-R); Emma Gurnett, Quinn Penno, and Hannah Fritzke (front row, L-R).

SABBATICAL

If you hear a new voice answering the phone this fall, don’t be alarmed. After spending nearly 10 years working as our office manager, Jeannie Blair (left) will be taking a 5-month sabbatical starting in August.

We are grateful for Leah Bueckert (right), our intern from this past year, who will be filling in as our interim Office Manager for the first semester.

HOUSING REQUEST

We are in need of a few more housing options for our incoming students. If you have a house, basement, or room for rent in the area (or know of someone who does!), please contact Jeannie at

(780) 465-3015 or mail@mountcarmel.net.
