News From The President

Posted March 26, 2018

I received an email a few weeks ago from a Mount Carmel alumnus recalling an almost off-handed comment I had made more than a decade ago. This person was then facing a difficult and intimidating situation. I apparently encouraged them by saying “You are going to be okay”. I didn’t remember the situation they described; I didn’t remember making the comment at all. But somehow that phrase had remained significant for them over the past few years.

Alumni Corner: Katy Splane

Posted May 17, 2017

Katy (nee Lucas-Buckland) graduated from Carmel in ’98.  She is married to Rich, and mom to Jude, Luca, & Elodie.

Wayne asked me to do this bit for the Short Report just after I spoke to this year’s class of students during chapel last week. Just after I’d ribbed him for having been my teacher 20 years ago! And it reminded me of my year at Carmel and just how significant chapels were to me, how significant laughter combined with faith combined with learning combined with service, with so many things really, were key parts of my first year away from home.

InterChange Thailand Prayer Team

Posted May 17, 2017

May 10–29, Mount Carmel’s first InterChange team will travel to Thailand! This cross-cultural exposure trip is intended to help students see the world with fresh eyes, understand more what it means to be a global Christian, and shape how students live as followers of Jesus at home. Do pray for the details of this trip, for Jeannie Blair and Wayne Tomalty as they lead, and for its impact on lives.
